Ordinary machinery
• Machinery: According to the provisions of the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive (Article 1.2), it is composed of several parts, at least one of which is movable, and is equipped with or is scheduled to be equipped with a drive system. Assemblies directly acted on by human or animal power. These parts assembled together can be used for some specific purposes, called [mechanical].
• The term "machinery" also includes a group of machines that are arranged and controlled in order to achieve comprehensive functions such as raw material processing, handling, transportation, and packaging. In addition, some components that are used to ensure safety, and if this component fails, it will endanger the safety or health of persons exposed to it. [Security components] are also machinery in the broad sense included in this directive.
• The scope of application of the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive has been extended, and hoisting machines, ammunition-propelled fixed machinery and other impact machinery used on construction sites will be regulated within the scope of compulsory certification.
• The distinction between the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive and the 2014/35/EU Low Voltage Directive will be further clarified, and the difference will no longer be based on the "main risk". The 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive lists six categories of electronic and electrical Products are covered by the 2014/35/EU Low Voltage Directive, while other machinery is covered by the 2014/35/EU Low Voltage Directive to cover electrical risks, but the conformity assessment procedures and the requirements for placing on the market are implemented in accordance with the Machinery Directive.
• The boundaries between the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive and the Elevator Directive are more distinct. The elevators with a lifting speed of not higher than 0.15 m/s are no longer subject to the elevator directive, but are classified into the mechanical directive. The scope of safety parts is clearly defined, and a list of 17 types of safety parts is listed, as shown in Appendix II below.
• Change in certification mode: Like Directive 98/37/EC, companies can choose Mode A for certification if they continue to use most ordinary machinery. For dangerous machinery specified in Annex IV of Appendix IV, manufacturers have more certification modes. choose. For the products of Annex IV in Appendix IV, the factory can adopt A mode, B mode (EC TYPE-EXAMINATION) or H mode (full quality assurance system) on the premise that it fully meets the harmonization standards and related basic requirements.
• 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive also stipulates that EU member states are obliged to supervise certification bodies. If the agency neglects its duties, its authorization can be cancelled or suspended.

Appendix 2: Detailed list of safety components:
The following list of safety components given by the 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive can be updated to cover new products according to the level of industrial development and technological progress:
1) Protective device for detachable mechanical transmission equipment.
2) Protective device designed to detect the presence of personnel.
3) The power-driven interlocking movable protective device for mechanical protection described in Article 9), 10), and 11) of the mandatory compliance assessment machinery category.
4) Logic device to ensure safety function.
5) Valves with additional measures for fault detection are intended to be used for the control of dangerous mechanical movements.
6) Collection system for mechanical emissions.
7) The protection and protection devices used to protect personnel from moving parts during mechanical work are not included.
8) Monitoring equipment for loading and motion control of lifting machinery.
9) A restraint system that maintains personnel staying on the operating seat.
10) Emergency stop device.
11) Discharge system to prevent the accumulation of potentially dangerous electrostatic charges.
12) The energy limiter coin release device mentioned in Article 1.5.7, 3.4.7 and 4.1.2.6 of Annex 1 of the New Directive.
13) System devices that reduce noise and vibration emissions.
14) Overturning protection device (ROPS).
15) Falling Object Protection Device (FOPS).
16) Two-hand control equipment.
17) Parts and components used for machinery designed to lift and transport people between different platforms.
1. How to test mechanical equipment? Since the mechanical equipment is generally large, the test will be limited by the size of the laboratory site, and the field test is generally carried out.
2. Does the CE certificate of the Machinery Directive require annual inspection, and is it valid? The Machinery Directive has no annual inspection requirements. Generally, as long as the directives and standards remain unchanged and the products are unchanged, the certificates and reports will not expire.
3. Does each machine need to be individually certified? The Machinery Directive certification is based on product series certification. For equipment of the same structure and principle, if there are differences in specifications and processing capabilities, it can be certified according to a series, and one of the prototypes can be selected for testing.
4. Can the test report corresponding to the mechanical CE certification be used in countries such as Saudi Arabia? The mechanical test report issued by a CNAS-qualified certification body is recognized by countries such as Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. Therefore, if a manufacturer chooses a CNAS-qualified certification body for mechanical testing services, the cost of multiple repeated tests can be reduced.
5. What is the certification fee for the Machinery Directive? CE Machinery Directive certification fees generally consist of testing fees, certificate fees and travel expenses. The specific fees depend on the complexity of the product. How much does it cost to apply for this certification? (The number of specific test samples is connected with the staff)
6. Which mechanical products must be certified by NB institutions? In principle, dangerous machinery (Appendix 4 Machinery) must be issued with an NB certificate.
7. Do companies that do MD certification must have an ISO system certificate? Companies only need to have quality assurance procedures and manuals to ensure that products can be produced in accordance with CE standards.
8. What are the current requirements for the import of machinery and equipment in the United States? The US Customs does not have any requirements, but generally local governments will require machinery and equipment to meet relevant safety regulations. In order to avoid immeasurable losses due to non-compliance with local regulations after the company arrives in the United States, it is generally recommended that companies conduct corresponding assessments in China in accordance with American standards.
9. Do mechanical products need EMC? According to EU requirements, a product must meet all the relevant directives to be considered CE. Therefore, mechanical products circulating in the EU market must legally undergo EMC testing and certification.
